Anderson County: Paramedic

The fundamental responsibility of the Paramedic is to preserve life, alleviate suffering, promote health, to do no harm and to encourage the quality and equal availability of emergency medical care. The Paramedic is qualified in advanced prehospital emergency care and services by a competency-based educational program of clinical, didactic, and practice emergency vehicle operator as well as provider of prehospital advanced life support (ALS). The standard of practice of the Paramedic shall be in accordance with the most current edition of the US DOT “Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic: National Standard Curriculum”, as modified by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Bureau of EMS, and Anderson County Emergency Medical Services. The Anderson County EMS Paramedic is primarily responsible for responding to 911 requests for service via a Quick Response Vehicle (QRV), providing medical assessment of the patient, initiating advanced life support care, when required and attending to the patient during transport which is provided by a contracted ambulance provider, when needed.
